OUR MISSION
Tribe Vintage was created with a mission to promote a circular economy and reduce textile waste. Every year, an astounding 92 million tonnes of garments end up in landfills—that’s equivalent to a truckload of clothing being discarded every second. We believe we can make a difference by sourcing from textile processing centres around the world, rescuing as much clothing from landfills as possible.
Our goal is to offer the best selection of vintage clothing on the market. Each item is carefully processed to meet our high standards, and all our products are freshly laundered to present them in their best light. For pieces that don't meet our criteria, we're developing an innovative recycling project to ensure our company is truly circular. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
HOW TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF YOUR CLOTHES
Prolonging the life of your clothes not only saves money but also reduces your environmental impact. Here are some tips to help you extend the lifespan of your garments:
1. Wash Less Frequently
-
Avoid Overwashing: Only wash clothes when they are dirty. Frequent washing wears out fabrics faster.
-
Spot Clean: For minor stains or odours, spot cleaning can help you avoid unnecessary full washes.
2. Follow Care Instructions
-
Read Labels: Always follow the care labels on your clothes for washing, drying, and ironing instructions.
-
Use Cold Water: Washing in cold water is gentler on fabrics and helps preserve colours.
3. Use Gentle Detergents
-
Mild Detergents: Use gentle detergents that are less harsh on fabric fibers.
-
Avoid Bleach: Bleach can weaken fabric and cause discoloration over time.
4. Air Dry When Possible
-
Skip the Dryer: Air drying reduces wear and tear from high heat and tumbling in the dryer.
-
Lay Flat to Dry: For delicate items, laying them flat to dry can prevent stretching and shape loss.
5. Store Clothes Properly
-
Use Quality Hangers: Invest in good hangers that support the shape of your clothes and prevent stretching.
-
Fold Heavy Knits: Store heavy sweaters and knits folded to avoid them stretching out on hangers.
-
Keep Clothes in a Cool, Dry Place: Proper storage conditions prevent mold, mildew, and fading.
6. Rotate Your Wardrobe
-
Avoid Overuse: Wearing the same item frequently accelerates wear. Rotating your wardrobe evenly helps distribute wear across all your clothes.
7. Repair and Upcycle
-
Mend Damages: Fix small tears, loose buttons, or broken zippers before they become bigger problems.
-
Upcycle Old Clothes: Get creative and repurpose old clothes into new pieces, like turning jeans into shorts or shirts into tote bags.
By following these tips, you can extend the life of your clothes, keep them looking good for longer, and contribute to a more sustainable fashion approach.
